Meet Your Practitioner

Gretchen Miles

Gretchen Miles, LMP
Bowenwork® Practitioner and Instructor

My passion for bodywork originated when I was very young and encouraged by the athletic trainer while receiving my BA at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. My formal licensing training began as a second career or "late in life", when I realized that my call to work with people was to be in a "healing art" not in the corporate world. I received my massage practitioner's training at the Seattle Massage School, Everett Campus (currently Everest College), graduating with honors in 1996. I have been licensed as a Washington State Massage Practitioner since June 1996.

As many individuals experience in their personal and professional lives, opportunities for growth and change constantly present themselves. Though these opportunities are not always clear paths, I try to be aware of and pursue them as they fit into my life. Growth seems to be a constant theme in my life, bringing new inspirations to fruition...I am ever thankful for the support of my husband, my family, friends, many clients and colleagues who have watched me move into and continually expand upon these transformations.

New inspirations have brought many evolutions to my practice. Many people still remember my original practice: Massage Therapy Northwest which I opened in the heart of my hometown, Snohomish, just after graduating from massage school in 1996. For many years I enjoyed providing Swedish massage to a wide variety of people who became friends.

In 2003, I was introduced to Bowenwork® by a colleague. Though skeptical of the technique, I decided to pursue a little training to fulfill professional continuing education requirements. I was amazed at the results I experienced in my own body and for those clients who had long standing issues. I have been a certified Bowenwork® practitioner since 2003; becoming certified quickly expanded my practice. The next evolution in my business was: Massage & Bowen Northwest, Inc.

I now practice Bowenwork® full time in my clinic and thus this latest transition in my business name: Bowenwork Northwest. Each day I am fulfilled by the realization that I am positively affecting my clients' health and watching each live a life without familiar restrictions or complications.

Beyond assisting clients, I am a certified Bowenwork® Instructor. Bowenwork® has been my passion for many years and I take great pleasure in introducing this amazing technique to my health care colleagues: massage practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapist, Naturopathic physicians, Chiropractors, registered nurses, medical doctors, to name a few. I also enjoy working with individuals who may wish to learn Bowenwork® to help their personal family or friends. Introducing Bowenwork® to others expands an individuals' exposure to healing, exponentially! (Visit: "Learn Bowenwork®!" to find out about classes I have scheduled and am hosting.)

I am committed to assisting my clients, and my students, on the road to health and well being. The absence of discomfort (physical, mental or spiritual) allows you to live a whole, vibrant life! Bowenwork® is a tremendous tool to support each person's healing process. I have seen astonishing changes in people's lives!
