What is Bowenwork®?

Leaf Picture

Bowenwork® is a gentle "challenge and release" manual therapy. It is known as the "Homeopathy of Bodywork" or the "Alternative to Alternative Therapies". Bowenwork® addresses the body as a whole and is recommended for people of all ages and health. Bowenwork® "moves" are "rolling" moves that access fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves which effect deep organic and structural function. Assimilation of nutrition and elimination of toxins is greatly enhanced. Lymphatic drainage and circulation is improved. Pain levels are decreased. The "moves" are performed at key points (or natural reference points for the brain) in a specific sequence and pattern, stimulating the body's innate healing and deep relaxation response. By not eliciting the defense mechanisms, which are often heightened in the body during the muscular or structural manipulation of other therapies, the body is able to reduce the presenting symptoms. These symptoms may be a result of compensation patterns or dysfunction which has been present for many years of the clients' life.

Bowenwork® may assist many different conditions.

It is difficult to predict how each person will respond to Bowenwork®. Every person has their own experiences in life which affect their body and its ability to heal. A client may find that they have forgotten to describe an accident or illness which happened in their lifetime but remember it while receiving Bowenwork® sessions. This is not uncommon. One may also feel change in an area of the body far from the site at which the practitioner has worked.

No list is complete. The body will heal to the best of its ability given the tools and the support to heal. A short list of the conditions which Bowenwork® may affect:
